How to Buy Data for Someone Else in Ghana

Sending data to a family member, a worker, or a student in another town is one of the most common things Ghanaians do with their phones. There are two ways to do it — and only one of them is reliable.

Option 1: transfer data from your own bundle

Every network lets you share data you already bought. It works, but there are catches: you must have the data already, you can usually only send to the same network, and transfer limits apply.

Option 2: buy a bundle straight to their number (recommended)

This is simpler and works across all three networks. You do not need to own the data first, and the recipient does not need to do anything.

1. Sign in to ConnectDataGH.
2. Choose the recipient's network — MTN, AirtelTigo or Telecel.
3. Enter their number and choose the bundle size.
4. Pay with Mobile Money, a card, or your wallet balance.

The data is credited to their line, usually within seconds, and you get a receipt.

Make sure it reaches the right person

• Confirm the network. A number's prefix tells you the network. If in doubt, ask them to dial their own-number code and read it back to you.
• Read the number twice. One wrong digit means a stranger gets the data, and it cannot be reversed.
• Save regular recipients. If you send to the same people often, keep their numbers written down correctly once.
